Why dose my staffy swallow so much ?

I got my staffy from a rescue place and he always is swallowing even if he has nothing i'n his mouth and i got him with kennel cough but the vet has said after we have given him antibiotics he dose not have kennel cough any more but since I've had him he coughs Please help me what do i do I'm lost with this
