Is a vet kennel a bad place to leave a dog on vacation?

Going to drop my doggy off at the Vet in a couple of hours to leave on vacation. I've seen the area where they keep them and they're pretty big, they play with them, walk them, feed them, etc. He's never stayed anywhere else before though. Has anyone had any experience with leaving their dogs at a vet kennel?
